Communion: What We Believe

One of the most famous and consistent practices of the New Testament Church is that of communion. Triumph Centre does frequently participate in communion with the following guidelines:

1) We participate in the taking of communion as an act of personal introspection…in other words, we want to keep our hearts right before God, we are seeking forgiveness of sin, and we are acknowledging our continual need for the Lord’s spiritual participation in our lives.

2) We do not take communion every week as the frequency of participation sometimes weakens the spiritual impact of the purpose of communion (being in “common” “union” with Jesus).

3) As some other Christian denominations practice, we do not believe the communion elements, the wafer and the juice, become the literal body and blood of Jesus (the doctrine of Transubstantiation). Scripture is very clear from Paul’s letter to the Romans, (6:10), “For in that He died, He died unto sin once…”, meaning that the cross of Calvary once and for all paid the price for our sins. In communion we symbolically link to Calvary’s sacrifice and forgiveness of sin.

4) Those participating in communion for the first time, especially including children, should take communion only once they have been water baptized for the remission of their sins.

5) We administer communion to any and all believers, whether members of our church body or not.

We hope this answers your FAQs, but if you need further clarification please contact Pastor at staff@triumphabq.org. Blessings to all, and, if you believe, get baptized and join us in communion!
